The global payments landscape is evolving as consumers, businesses, and payment processors respond to the challenges and opportunities brought about by rapid technological innovations. Technology innovation is a two-edged sword. On the one hand, consumers and businesses are provided with more options by which to embed traditional payment processes into their daily lives and business operations. On the other hand, fraudsters have more tools by which to hijack the process to steal money, personal data, or both. The dynamic between better business results and fraud mitigation requires payment processing organizations to embed a deep set of technological capabilities that goes beyond transaction processing and to take into account the behaviors of those making the transactions.
